Dear City Council, I live near Mother’s Beach, a place where people from Inner Long Beach can enjoy the beach and the water. There is a parking lot adjacent to the beach, however it costs money to park there. So what do most visitors do on the weekend? They park on my street. I was returning from a music rehearsal when we found our trouble of the week, the street was full of vans that we hadn’t seen before meaning they were here for the beach. It’s upsetting to a resident like myself to see that our street is filled with other people from the beach, but it’s more upsetting that you, the city, refuses to make the parking across the beach free. However this is not the only time the City has used my neighborhood for profit. Film crews find my neighborhood to be a prime film location and come often, whether it be CSI: Miami or Biggest Losers. The City gets paid to have their city filmed, however multiple bridges and streets end up being closed down as a result. This is naturally infuriating as traveling three miles or so becomes a hassle rather than a quick trip. So what am I proposing? Take off tolls that affect the local residents parking privileges and maybe once and while consider that because a film crew is filming in my neighborhood it makes it harder and longer to get to school. I know Arnold Schwarzenegger screwed us over, but just give police ticket quotas they have to fill in order to fill your debt. Oh wait, you already do that. You’ll figure something out Sincerely, Marcos Mena Patch Blogger
