Waking up with the waves on Wednesday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Patch surf report. Well if you have the day off stay in bed and if you have to work, then get to the office on time!!
Yep, it's looking pretty lousy out there, thanks to this latest storm. The surf has finally picked up, but the conditions are chewed up, with quite a bit of chop on it due to the variable southeast wind.
There's a decent combination of west-northwest ground and windswell and a little south-southwesterly energy in the water. That recipe is offering some messy crumbly lines, with not much to work with.

Most spots in Seal Beach are running about knee-to-waist high, with the standout breaks pulling stomach-high waves, with a few chest-high sets.
At 7:15 this morning the tide pushes way up to a 6.3 high which isn't helping our cause either. Many spots will be pretty full and back-washy througout mid- morning. The tide then drains out to a negative 1.2 low at 2:14 this afternoon.

If you're really itching to get wet, throw on at least a 3/2 full-suit or better yet a 4/3 and maybe the booties, with the water temperature hanging between 56 and 57 degrees. Good luck out there!!
FYI: Health officials urge surfers and swimmers to stay out of the water after a rain due to increased bacteria levels for at least 72 hours, especially near storm drains and river mouths.
