16-Year-Old Bicyclist Hit By Truck Dies: Vallejo Police
Breaking: According to police, the 16-year-old boy died Sunday from injuries suffered in the collision Thursday night.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- A major injury collision Thursday in Vallejo involving a pick-up truck and two bicyclists turned fatal Sunday, police said. The crash between a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche and a father and his son on bicycles occurred Thursday night on Columbus Parkway south of Georgia Street.
The boy, 16, suffered major head and internal injuries when the truck hit him from behind and dragged him approximately 100 feet, according to police. The boy was taken to a hospital following the collision, but died from his injuries Sunday, Vallejo police Lt. Michael Nichelini said in a news release.
Monday morning, authorities had not publicly identified the teen victim.

The boy's father, a 43-year-old Vallejo resident, suffered minor injuries, according to police.
The driver of the truck, a 53-year-old Vallejo man whose name was not provided, was not injured, police said.

Nichelini said the police department is continuing its investigation of the collision, which includes looking into whether drugs or alcohol played a part.
Witnesses and evidence at the scene indicate the Chevy was traveling northbound on Columbus when it left the lane of travel, colliding with the two bicyclists who were also traveling northbound on Columbus, riding at the right hand edge of the roadway, Nichelini said.
