Driver Killed After Hitting Truck On I-80

The tractor-trailer was parked on the right shoulder, according to the CHP in the Solano area.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA – An Idaho man died when his vehicle crashed into a parked tractor-trailer on Interstate Highway 80 near Vallejo early Saturday morning, California Highway Patrol officials said today.

The 29-year-old man from Kooskia, Idaho, was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt west on Highway 80 just east of American Canyon Road in unincorporated Solano County around 2:50 a.m. when he turned to the right and struck the tractor-trailer parked on the right shoulder, according to the CHP.

The driver suffered fatal injuries, and investigators do not yet know if alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.

According to the Solano County coroner's office, the man's identity will not be released unless his next of kin are notified.
