Solano Co. Fire Crews Assist At Massive Soberanes Fire
The Monterey Co. blaze, started in July from illegal campfire, has consumed more than 128,000 acres and is 81 percent contained. SEE PHOTOS.
DIXON, CA – Five Dixon firefighters last week helped battle the massive Soberanes Fire burning in Monterey County.
Four members were part of a Solano County strike team working on the fire line, plus one paramedic assigned to the incident providing medical support, according to the Dixon Professional Firefighters Association - IAFF Local 4665, which shared photos on its Facebook page.
The Soberanes Fire was started by an illegal campfire July 22 in Garrapata State Park. Eight people have been injured and a bulldozer operator has died in the blaze, which has consumed 128,380 acres as of this morning and has cost an estimated $208 million.

The fire is 81 percent contained as of today. Full containment is expected by Sept. 30.
