Vallejo Man Tackled, Arrested By South Bay Police
Police say he grabbed an officer's pistol holster during a struggle.

MILPITAS, CA —Milpitas Police tackled and arrested a suspect who grabbed an officer’s pistol holster,according to police. Brandon Edward Nichols Jr. of Vallejo was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, presenting false identification to a peace officer, identify theft, debit card fraud, and a total of four (4) arrest warrants from Santa Clara County and Solano County.
The 27-year-old man was apprehended at a hotel in Milpitas on April 29.
Milpitas Police were contacted by a woman in Colorado who reported that someone had fraudulently used her debit card information to reserve a room at Courtyard by Marriott on Falcon Drive in Milpitas.

Officers went to the Courtyard and learned that the room was reserved under the name of Brandon Nichols. The officers stopped him as he was coming out of an elevator on the second floor. Police say, "When asked for identification, he presented an identification card in the name of someone else. As officers tried to arrest him, he ran down to the ground floor where an officer tackled him. During the struggle, Nichols grabbed an officer’s pistol holster, but the officers were able to subdue him and handcuff him."

One of the officers suffered minor injuries in the scuffle.
The officers searched both Nichols and his hotel room, and found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and the personal information for several other people.

Nichols was booked into the Santa Clara County main jail.
