
A worker was crushed by a steel I-beam that fell from its cradle on Mare Island in Vallejo this morning, a fire battalion chief said.
The accident happened just before 11 a.m. at XKT Engineering, an industrial machine shop at 390 Railroad Ave. on Mare Island, Vallejo fire Battalion Chief Pat Dunn said. The beam fell from its cradle and hit the worker in the legs, Dunn said. He was taken to a trauma center.
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health was notified and will be handling the investigation into the accident, Dunn said.
