Popular Coffee Chain Closing Several Stores Across Bay Area: Report

The chain operates more than 250 locations across the country

BERKELEY, CA — Peet's Coffee is getting ready to close dozens of stores across the Bay Area, according to a report from the San Francisco Chronicle.

A spokesperson at Peet's Coffee confirmed the closures to the Chronicle and said they reflected a "broader effort to align our business with long-term growth priorities and current market conditions."

Many locations are set to close by the end of the month, including two in San Francisco, according to the report. Peet's Coffee managers who spoke with San Francisco Chronicle reporters said about 30 Bay Area shops were expected to close, including one in Cole Valley and another in the Castro.
