Berkeley Murder Suspect Held Without Bail
Jonah Jeremiah Roper's arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
BERKELEY, CA — Jonah Jeremiah Roper, 36, is being held on suspicion of murder and other crimes after being arrested by Berkeley police Saturday in connection with a stabbing spree that left a woman dead and two other people injured.
Roper is being held at the Berkeley Jail without bail on suspicion of murder, elder abuse, child endangerment, burglary, vehicle theft and fleeing from police, according to jail records.
He was arrested after he allegedly stabbed one woman to death on the 1000 block of Overlook Road in the Berkeley Hills and then injured two other people nearby.

His arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday in Department 12 of the Wiley Manuel Courthouse in Oakland.
At about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Berkeley police received several calls about a person with a knife on Overlook Road, with one caller reporting that the suspect was chasing someone down the street, according to police.

A man and a woman were found nearby with injuries and another woman was found dead.
Police say Roper allegedly fled the area before officers arrived but was spotted and chased until he crashed and was arrested.
