Extremely rare Amelia Earhart (b. 1897, disappeared 1937) personal belongings will headline Clars Auction Gallery’s September 10 and 11 sale in Oakland, Clars President Redge A. Martin has announced. A pair of 1920s Luxor aviator goggles damaged in an early plane crash and 18 unpublished personal photographs belonging to the famed aviator and given as mementoes to her flight teacher, mentor and a student will come on the auction block from private collections. The two-day auction, featuring approximately 2,000 lots, will be held at Clars Auction Gallery, 5644 Telegraph Avenue in Oakland Saturday, September 10, beginning at 9:30 am and Sunday, September 11, beginning at 10 am. Previews of the sale will be held Friday September 9, 1-6 pm; Saturday and Sunday, September 10 and 11 beginning at 9 am and by appointment. The sale features Fine Art, Jewelry, Asian Decoratives, Antiques, Ephemera, and Special Collections. It’s expected to be the largest Clars auction of the year.
