The current show entitled:“Looking Back, Then Into the Future ” covers the holiday period crossing from 2011 to 2012 making us aware of the passage of time and giving us the opportunity to envision the future. Lots of great handmade gifts are available when looking for something special for the holidays or the New Year.

As a major part of our show, we are pleased to present a retrospective show of the fine artwork of Artist, Helen Breger, now in her 90’s who has recently published two books. The show includes work from her fashion art days and the days when she illustrated poets while working as an illustrator for the Chronicle. Her book takes us from the days when she left Nazi Germany and came to the United States to the present when she is still actively creating new fine artwork. We look at different decades and different mediums she has mastered.

Also included as a major part of the show is the artwork of a number of local artists who focus on the theme of looking back and then into the future. These artists offer artwork encompassing such subjects as a look at fossils; archeology; nature and transition; a stepping into the past and jetting off to the future;  using old art forms such as cyanotype and stained glass and new ones such as digital arts; entering the spiritual and the psychic; recalling cherished memories and hopes; alerting us to dangers of the future should we continue on our course without adjusting our lifestyles; giving us relief through the use of humor and providing time to envision the future and to override our fears and to reach for our dreams. The artists work in various mediums: painting, photography, digital art, fiber arts, crafts, jewelry, printmaking, garden art and lots more.
