Potluck Community Dinner

Beginning this fall, we are excited to offer a new dimension to educational programs on Wednesday nights; this time for adults.  These new hour-long gatherings will follow our Wednesday night community dinners that begin at 5:30 P.M.  While the youth are engaged with the Spirit and the Arts program, as well as the music program, we will have time for adults to engage with spirituality, scripture, and popular culture.

Throughout the year we will explore different elements of popular culture as we begin to weave our stories together, discovering how scripture from our own faith and scripture from other faith traditions continue to gain meaning and depth in a modern context.  Pop culture elements we will engage with include televisions shows such as Star Trek, The Simpsons, and The West Wing; movies such as Where the Wild Things Are, What Dreams May Come and Across the Universe; music from groups such as The Beatles, Neil Young, Elvis Costello, Five for Fighting, and OK Go; books such as The Lorax, Lamb, and much more.

Our first session will occur with the first Community Dinner on Wednesday, September 19, where will be viewing an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.  Be on the look out for a finalized fall schedule soon!
