Release party for documentary A Zest for Life--film and live performance

Anyone who loves Latin jazz, or is interested in black Latinos, or is just up for a good time with lively music and great dancing should enjoy the release party for our documentary.  Hosted by Hershell West, former president of the Alameda County Arts / Culture Commission, we´ll have live music by local group de Rompe y Raja (who are also seen in the documentary) and a mini-lesson in Afro-Peruvian zapateo footwork in addition to watching our documentary, A Zest for Life:  Afro-Peruvian Rhythms, a Source of Latin Jazz.

A Zest for Life tells its story by focusing on well-known master dancer, master percussionist, choreographer AND folklorist Lalo Izquierdo of Peru, ably supported by the fine dancers of de Rompe y Raja.  Photos, video of performance in the community, interviews and a host's narrative round out the documentary.

So come on down to la Peña on Friday night and enjoy an evening of film and live performance.  I bet you´ll end up being glad you came!
