S. Clay Wilson Special Needs Trust Benefit

With poets A.D. WINANS, CLIVE MATSON, RICHARD KRECH and LUIS GARCIA. Signed copies of Wilson's art will be available.

S. Clay Wilson was a founding artist in the 1960s for Zap Comix, along with Robert Crumb and others. Wilson's Checkered Demon, Captain Pissgums and Ruby the Dyke, to name a few of his characters, challenged censorship and helped create a more liberal environment for all artists and cartoonists.

In November 2008, Wilson suffered a traumatic brain injury, the likely effect of a beating by unknown assailants. He still draws, takes walks and enjoys life, but speech is difficult and paid work impossible. His wife, Lorraine Chamberlain, cares for him, and a trust has been set up for his medical and other expenses.

100 percent of the proceeds of Sunday's benefit will go to the trust.
