Felon Arrested With Gun, Drugs In Berkeley

BERKELEY, CA — Police in Berkeley on Wednesday arrested a man in connection with several crimes related to possession of a gun and narcotics.

Lamon Johnson, 54, of Berkeley, was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a loaded and concealed firearm, misappropriation of found property, being a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana for sales, possession of cocaine and heroin, possession of a firearm while also possessing drugs and violating the terms of his probation.

On Wednesday at 7:06 a.m., an officer with the Berkeley Police Department conducted a search on Johnson based on Johnson's probation status, police said.

During the search, the officer discovered Johnson was in possession of a loaded revolver, two methamphetamine pipes and identification that did not belong to him.

Johnson was arrested, and during a second search before he entered jail, police discovered he was also in possession of suspected meth.
