The woman had been sleeping when the robbers entered her bedroom, police said.

PIEDMONT, CA — A woman was injured early Tuesday morning when two robbers broke into her Piedmont home, demanded money and then assaulted her, police said.

The woman was sleeping at a home in the 400 block of Scenic Avenue when the robbers broke in just after midnight, according to the Piedmont Police Department.

The two suspects woke her up and demanded cash. But when she didn't comply, the suspects beat her and then ransacked the home, police said.

Nobody was arrested, but a Flock Safety camera tracked the suspect vehicle back to Oakland within an hour of the crime being reported, police said, adding that it was towed for evidence.

The suspects were described by police as two Black males in their early 20s, about six feet tall. They were wearing gray and black hoodies during the incident, police said.

The Piedmont Police Department asked that anyone with more information contact the agency at 510-420-3000.

"With the recent warm weather, we know many residents are opening windows, spending more time outside, and enjoying the neighborhood," police said. "We ask everyone to continue prioritizing safety by securing their homes and staying aware of their surroundings."
