Two Berkeley Teens Killed At North Oakland Birthday Party
A fundraiser on GoFundMe to help the family with funeral expenses identified the boys as Jayz and Angel, ages 17 and 15.
BERKELEY, CA — Two teen boys died and two other people who were wounded in a shooting Saturday night in North Oakland were residents of Berkeley, according to numerous published reports.
The Alameda County coroner's bureau could not confirm the names of the boys Monday morning, but a fundraiser on GoFundMe identified the boys as Jayz and Angel, ages 17 and 15.
"On October 1st, we lost our beloved family members, Angel and Jayz, in a tragic and senseless act of violence," the GoFundMe page organized by Erika Galavis said.

Angel "was gentle soul, who loved and cared deeply for those around him," the page said. "He was one who was always ready for a fun time, constantly carrying joy and laughter wherever he went.
"Jayz "was the quieter of the two, who tended to naturally assume the role of protector," according to the GoFundMe page. "He was a funny and smart young man, who was curious and excited about learning, about going to college."

The shooting occurred shortly before 10 p.m. in the 900 block of Apgar Street near Emeryville Saturday, Oct. 1.
Officers who went to Apgar Street found multiple gunshot victims, according to police. Officers tried to save the boys' lives, but they died at the scene, police said.
A third victim located by Oakland police was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition, according to police. Emeryville police located a fourth victim, who also is in stable condition at a hospital, Oakland police said.
The fundraiser, which had raised more than $74,000 by late Monday morning, aims to help the family pay for funeral and other expenses.
The Saturday night shooting follows another mass shooting earlier in the week at an Oakland school. Six people were wounded in that shooting, including two adult students.
