BEVERLY HILLS, CA -- A 26-year-veteran of the Beverly Hills Police Department is now at the helm of the UCLA Police Department.

Tony Lee, who most recently served as a Beverly Hills police captain, assumed his UCLA post on March 13, according to the university.

"It's truly an amazing honor to be selected as the police chief in what I consider to be one of the finest university police departments in the nation," Lee said.

Lee earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Cal State Los Angeles and a master's degree in public administration from Cal State Northridge.

He replaces Interim Chief Manny Garcia, who delayed his retirement to serve beginning last June, following the retirement of former chief James Herren after nearly seven years at the helm.
