Sports run deep in Beverly Hills, and Beverly Hills High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Normans uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Beverly Hills High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.


1. Caylin Hauptmann - Two-Time Super Bowl Champion

Caylin Hauptmann a NFL offensive lineman. A Beverly Hills High School graduate, he was a standout in both football and track & field, breaking a long-standing school record in the shot put while also dominating on the field, earning All-League and All-Conference selections. After high school, Hauptmann played his first year post-graduate at the College of the Canyons, then at Florida International University, where he started every game over three seasons and earned All-Sun Belt honors while serving as a captain of the offensive line. Entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent, he played for several franchises during his playing days but reached the pinnacle of the sport, winning back-to-back Super Bowls with the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. 2. Wally Wolf - Olympic Gold Medalist for Swimming

Wally Wolf was an impactful swimmer while at Beverly Hills High School. He dominated swimming, winning multiple California Interscholastic Federation titles and setting records in freestyle and individual medley events. His success continued collegiately at USC, where he earned All-PAC 8 honors and other accolades. His Olympic career began during college at the 1948 London Games, where he was part of the 4x200 meter freestyle relay that set a world record and won gold. He competed in the next three Olympic Games in swimming and water polo. Wolf is in multiple halls of fame, including Beverly Hills High School and the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. 3. Louise Lieberman - Former USA Soccer Player

Louise Lieberman is a former Beverly Hills High School standout soccer player who earned multiple MVPs, All-League, and All-CIF honors before continuing her success as a midfielder for UCLA. During her collegiate career, Lieberman was a second-team All-PAC-10 selection. She helped lead the program to claim its first two PAC-10 championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances. She played one year for the WUSA’s Washington Freedom during its inaugural season before giving up her playing career for coaching. She has worked in several roles in the development of U.S. youth national teams and was most recently the head coach at the University of San Diego. (Sources: USD Toreros, US Sports Camps)


4. Andrew Kline - Former NFL Offensive Lineman

Andrew Kline is a former multi-sport athlete for the Normans. During his high school career, he was a four-year starter on the football team’s offensive line, earning first-team All-CIF and other honors. He also competed in track and basketball during his high school career. Kline made is presence felt on the offensive line at San Diego State University as well, earning an All-Mountain West Conference selection in 1999, anchoring the offensive line. His talents were recognized when he was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the 2000 NFL Draft. Although his career was limited by injuries, he reached the pinnacle by being drafted into the NFL. 5. Myron ‘Mike’ Franks - Professional Tennis Player & Two-Time Collegiate All-American

Mike Franks is one of Beverly Hills High School’s most accomplished tennis alumni. A top junior player in the early 1950s, he claimed numerous national junior titles before playing collegiate tennis at UCLA, where he was the Bruins’ No. 1 singles player and helped the team win the 1956 NCAA Championship. Franks was a two-time All-American and went on to compete professionally and internationally. He made deep runs in the U.S. Open and Wimbledon, represented the U.S. Davis Cup team in 1956, and earned medals at competitions like the Maccabiah Games. Over his career, he was ranked as high as #3 in doubles and #7 in singles nationally. Franks' successful collegiate and professional athletic career earned him induction into the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Men’s Collegiate Hall of Fame and, most recently, the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame.
