Producers Suzanne Matlack DeLaurentiis, Dale Fabrigar, and Nicole Mendez host The Fighting Quaker, a landmark theatrical event celebrating America's 250th anniversary. Directed by Bryan Rasmussen and written by the late Ann Matlack DeLaurentiis and Tricia Aurand, the 40-minute drama brings to life the remarkable and largely forgotten story of Timothy Matlack — the man who hand-inscribed the final official copy of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. 
The evening is a fundraiser benefiting the Mendez National Institute of Transplantation Foundation (MNITF), which raises awareness for kidney disease and organ donation. The event will include a festive food and drinks reception, gift bags, a VIP gifting suite, and an exclusive meet-the-cast experience following the performance. Attire is cocktail and business.
The Fighting Quaker traces Matlack's journey from debtor's prison to the halls of the Second Continental Congress, where — on the recommendation of Benjamin Franklin — he took quill in hand and preserved the most important document in American history. A colonel who crossed the Delaware, and later championed the abolition of slavery, Matlack was a man whose convictions grew stronger even as his world grew harder. The play's message resonates far beyond the 18th century: studies show that writing by hand activates more brain circuits than typing, strengthening memory, comprehension, and language development — and in today's digital world, Matlack's act of penmanship stands as both legacy and call to action.

This year, <a href="https://www.lawinefest.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">LAWineFest</a> proudly celebrates its 21st anniversary June 13th and 14th with an exciting move to the iconic Los Angeles Equestrian Center. The new location sets the stage for two unforgettable days of wine tasting, discovery, and connection in the heart of Los Angeles County.
For more than two decades, the festival’s organizers have poured their heart and soul, along with countless glasses of wine, into creating a welcoming and memorable experience for wine enthusiasts of all levels. The move to this stunning new venue means fresh opportunities to bring people together for a dynamic weekend that blends exploration, education, and philanthropy in an approachable and lively atmosphere.
Hollywood glamour meets equestrian tradition at the new home of LAWineFest. Nestled on beautiful, tree-shaded grounds bordering Griffith Park, the Los Angeles Equestrian Center (LAEC) offers expansive open space, natural shade, sweeping mountain views, and a relaxed outdoor setting ideal for wine lovers. This secluded yet centrally located destination provides a picturesque backdrop just minutes from the heart of LA.
Home to numerous dressage, polo, and competition events, and more than 500 beautiful horses, the LAEC attracts visitors who appreciate life’s finer luxuries, including fine wine and dining. Centrally located between the 5 and 134 Freeways, the venue is easily accessible from Los Feliz, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Sherman Oaks, Encino, Pasadena, and surrounding communities, making it a convenient and captivating venue for LAWineFest.
LAWineFest will also host a VIP Garden in a lovely private tree covered area where guests can enjoy exclusive access to boutique wineries producing 2,000 cases or less, along with a selection of higher-end wineries showcasing new varietals. Ticket sales are limited for this special experience, and VIPs will receive a souvenir wine glass, tasty bites with the wine and additional relaxed seating, plus dedicated restrooms. And it’s all for a great cause. The LAWineFest has once again partnered with the Los Angeles Boys &amp; Girls Club to raise awareness and funds, this year becoming more important than ever to the city and its need for community. Joining as a charitable partner this year is AHEAD With Horses, a local nonprofit devoted to improving the quality of life of disabled, disadvantaged, and special-needs children through equine-assisted therapy using vaulting.
Guests can look forward to a thoughtfully curated weekend of tasting exceptional wines – plus craft brews, ciders, kombucha and other beverages – from local wineries to producers from across the world. Discovering new wines is balanced with many other activities, including live music by the Unofficial Slam Band, delicious food trucks, boutique shopping from local LA-based small businesses, and more.
LAWineFest hours are 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Designated drivers, carpooling, rideshare services, and public transportation are strongly encouraged.

The Circle Burbank

The Circle Burbank, a private women’s membership community dedicated to connection, wellness, and belonging, is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a vibrant community block party on Saturday, June 13 from 4:00–8:00 PM at its location at 1122 W Burbank Blvd.

What began as a vision to create a modern “third place” for women has quickly grown into a thriving hub where women gather for support, personal growth, and meaningful connection. To mark this milestone, The Circle is opening its doors to the broader community for an afternoon of celebration, connection, and fun for all ages.&nbsp;

The anniversary event will feature live music, food and local vendors, interactive demos of The Circle’s signature classes, family-friendly games and activities, participation from neighboring Burbank businesses “This past year has shown me just how much women, and our community as a whole, are craving real, in-person connection,” said founder Leeron Tal. “This celebration is not just about The Circle, it’s about bringing people together and honoring the community that has grown around it.”&nbsp;

Designed as a welcoming and engaging experience, the block party reflects The Circle’s mission of fostering connection not only among its members, but throughout the greater Burbank community. Guests will have the opportunity to explore The Circle, meet members and facilitators, and experience firsthand the unique environment that has made it a sought-after space for women seeking connection, wellness, and belonging.&nbsp;

D’Argenzio Winery, located next door to The Circle, will be open during the celebration and offering complimentary wine tastings. Half Baked Co. will host cupcake decorating in The Circle’s parking lot and will also have cupcakes available inside its shop. Brand new business, MaiSon Flowers will offer a bouquet-making station, while Castle &amp; Crown, an indoor children’s playground, will host a kids activity area for families attending the event. Food will be available from The Pattwagon, serving Jamaican patties, and guests can also experience activities from neighbors -&nbsp; Claytivity Pottery Studio, Sword Play and LA Vintage Gear. Friends of The Library, the Public Libraries non profit organization is also participating bringing the joy of reading!

Throughout the event, The Circle will host a variety of interactive class demos, giving attendees a sample of the programming offered inside the membership community. Demonstrations will include line dancing, salsa, world dance, mindfulness, sound bath, yoga, and stretch.
