Burlingame Police Arrest Man on Suspicion of Auto Theft, Burglary

Police say the man was in possession of stolen property, burglary tools and 2.5 ounces of marijuana.

A man was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and burglary after a brief pursuit in Burlingame Wednesday night, police said.

At 11:19 p.m. Wednesday, the Burlingame Police Department received reports of a suspicious person looking into parked vehicles in the 1200 block of Cortez Avenue.

Officers responding to the scene found Daryl Hazelton, a 28-year-old San Francisco man, who allegedly fled on foot after a brief interview. When he was apprehended a short distance away, police say Hazelton was in possession of stolen property, burglary tools and 2.5 ounces of marijuana.

On further investigation it was determined that Hazelton had stolen a car from a resident in the 1300 block of Cabrillo Avenue, according to police.

Hazelton was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, possession of burglary tools, possession of marijuana, possession of stolen property, and resisting/delaying a peace officer. He also had an outstanding warrant from another agency, police said.
