Grassroots Advocacy 101: Free Program at Burlingame Public Library

Free workshop teaches you how to use your time effectively and efficiently to influence policy makers

Now that policies on climate change and environmental protection are in jeopardy, what are the most effective ways to influence those who shape our laws? Brian Rawson, an experience trainer who has been mobilizing people to address societal inequities for 20 years, says signing petitions and making phone calls is not enough.

At a free program called "Grassroots Advocacy 101" on Wednesday, April 12, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Burlingame Public Library, he will explain how to use your time wisely and will teach you crucial advocacy skills. While attention will focus on environmental policies, the tools and skills acquired will be applicable to any advocacy effort.

This program is presented by the Citizens Environmental Council of Burlingame (CEC). Admission is free, but reservations are required in advance by emailing info@burlingamecec.org. If you cannot attend this workshop and are interested in a half-day training session offered in early summer, email info@burlingamecec.org.
