More Than 100 Tickets Given in Local Distracted Driving Crackdown
Police officers from Burlingame, Daly City and South San Francisco participated in the operation.
Police officers assigned to three Peninsula cities were out in full force on Friday, working together to increase the awareness of the dangers of distracted driving.
According to Burlingame Police Department Corporal Bretty Murphy, traffic officers from Burlingame Police, Daly City Police, and South San Francisco Police worked together in a distracted driving deployment on Friday– issuing a total of 102 citations.
“Of the 102 citations, 53 were for cell phone violations, 32 were for texting violations, 9 were for seat belt violations, and 8 other were for various traffic safety violations,“ Murphy said in a press release. “Additionally, three drivers were found to be driving unlicensed and one driver was cited for driving on a suspended driver’s license.”

Murphy said the operation was part of an ongoing Office of Traffic Safety funded effort in San Mateo County to increase traffic safety on the Peninsula.
