New Burlingame Police Chief Appointed

Eric Wollman was appointed on Friday to become Burlingame’s next police chief with more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement.

Wollman has served as a captain for the department since April 2012 and prior to that worked for the Daly City Police Department for 29 years, city officials said.

Burlingame city manager Lisa Goldman announced the appointment on Friday and in a statement said, “Eric is a true practitioner of police working, having worked or supervised every division of the Police Department in his 31 years in law enforcement.”

Wollman will begin serving as police chief on Nov. 1 and will be sworn in during the City Council meeting on Nov. 3.

“I am honored to serve as the next Chief of the Burlingame Police Department and looking forward to working with the City Council, the community and the men and women of the Police Department to continue to provide quality service to the citizens of our community,” Wollman said in a statement.

Wollman has worked with other law enforcement agencies to secure millions of dollars in grants for traffic safety in San Mateo County, according to the city manager’s office. He also helped in the formation of the San Mateo County Traffic Enforcement Program, city officials said.

With the Burlingame Police Department he has aided in the implementation of a new communications and records system, according to city officials.

Wollman is an alumnus of San Francisco State University.

He is succeeding Police Chief Ed Wood, who is retiring after seven years with Burlingame police.
