• SF Opera Hosts Rare Costume Sale 'Treasure Hunt' for Halloween (funcheap.com) — Burlingame will host San Francisco Opera's rare costume sale October 17–18 at the Opera's Scene Shop on Burlway Road, giving locals first crack at theatrical gowns, capes, and fantasy pieces from past productions. Timed-entry tickets are required, prices start at $5, and earlier slots cost more but offer the best selection, with proceeds supporting the Opera's work.
   

• Maximalist Tableside Duck Service Is the Signature at the Peninsula's Old Post Office (eater.com) — Burlingame's historic 1941 Art Deco post office at 220 Park Road has reopened as an ambitious new restaurant, the Old Post Office, from the team behind Spruce and Selby's. Locals can now book prix fixe dinners, lunches, brunches, or bar bites, including a showy limited duck service and an elevated burger, all pitched as "accessible luxury" rather than special-occasion-only dining.
