HILLSBOROUGH, CA – Three boys suspected of ransacking Hillsborough homes in a series of break-ins were recently caught – just before they were likely going to commit another burglary, police reported this week.

Hillsborough police said Monday that three juveniles from East Palo Alto are suspects in three burglaries in Hillsborough.

The suspects riding in a black BMW were detained Friday around 1:20 p.m. after a traffic stop on Skyline Boulevard just south of Chateau Drive.

"Officers recovered stolen property that was later identified as taken from a recent burglary in Hillsborough," Sgt. Patrick Aherne said on Facebook. "Based on the equipment the juveniles were carrying: gloves, hooded jackets, facial mask and prying tools... It is believed the 3 person crew was in Hillsborough to commit another burglary and were stopped prior to completing another crime."

Images shared by the police department on Facebook showed the suspected burglary outfits laid out as evidence in the case, as the three suspects were detained nearby.

The stolen property was returned to the owner, police said.

Police say the boys are suspects in a burglary in the 800 block of Darrell Road. After that incident, police circulated surveillance footage of a BMW that was spotted leaving the scene.

Aherne said the juveniles suspected in "at least two other burglaries in Hillsborough."

"The Hillsborough Police Department is continuing to pursue leads in these cases and is seeking information on similar crimes that this burglary crew may have committed in other jurisdictions," he said.
