Weston Mill Dam Will Be Removed Aug. 10

Removing the dam is part of an effort to restoring the area's fish population.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — The Weston Mill Dam in Manville will be removed Aug. 10 to help restore the migratory routes of fish.

The dam's removal is part of a larger project undertaken by various agencies to restore migratory fish populations in the Raritan River Basin.

The dam is located in Lincoln Avenue Park. Its removal will restore the migratory routes for American shad and other fish that have been blocked for nearly 300 years. It will also improve the water quality and increase safety for people using the Milestone River, the Stony-Brook-Millstone Watershed Association.
