Woman Touched in 'Inappropriate Manner' While Jogging Coastal Trail

Police are now looking for the sexual battery suspect.

An El Granada woman jogging along the California Coastal Trail in San Mateo County on Tuesday evening was inappropriately touched by a man, San Mateo County sheriff’s officials said this week.

The woman was jogging on the trail near Magellan Avenue and Mirada Road around 6:45 p.m. when the suspect ran past her, sheriff’s officials said.

The suspect then turned around, went up to the victim and inappropriately touched her lower torso, according to sheriff’s officials.

He fled on foot south on Magellan Avenue, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies responded to the scene and conducted an extensive check of the area but were unable to find the man, according to sheriff’s officials.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man between 18 and 22 years old, about 5 feet 4 inches tall with a slight to medium build and no facial hair, sheriff’s officials said. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and faded black jeans at the time of the incident, according to the sheriff’s office.
