Deputies Surround South Bay Home Looking For Escaped Inmate: Reports

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA ā Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputies Tuesday afternoon have a San Jose house surrounded where one of the escaped jail inmates may be hiding, new reports state.
Nearby Overfelt High School was briefly on lockdown, according to NBC Bay Area.
San Jose resident Rogelio Chavez, 33, and Laron Campbell, 26, of Palo Alto, escaped from the main jail in San Jose on Wednesday night. Two other inmates also escaped but were quickly apprehended.

Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies set up surveillance at a Gilroy hotel Sunday night after several callers reported seeing an escaped inmate there. Several callers told sheriff's deputies on Sunday that they had seen Chavez at the Days Inn at 8292 Murray Ave.
Deputies responded to the hotel at around 11:15 p.m. and found a room that may have been associated with Chavez but stopped the search at the hotel when they didn't find him there.

A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the successful capture of two men who escaped from the Santa Clara County Main Jail, Sheriff Laurie Smith announced Friday.
