See: Grocery Shopping Rescue Dog Buys His Own Treats

This sweet German shepherd was destined for a shelter until he was saved by a California dog trainer with a big heart.

MILPITAS, CA — Do you need an extra hand at the grocery store? How about an extra paw? A German shepherd in Milpitas is getting nationwide attention thanks to talented antics such as pushing a grocery cart through a supermarket while standing on his hind legs. The dog, named Cash, seems to be smiling as he pushes the cart. Perhaps it's the big bag of dog treats right in front of him.

Cash is a licensed service dog who was rescued by Isaac Hughes, who runs Wow Dog Training. An "Inside Edition" video shows Cash pushing a cart through Grocery Outlet, balancing on a fence, riding in a VTA Light Rail car and performing other tricks. Hughes told Patch that Cash can also ride escalators, skateboards and chase away geese on command to cut down on goose poop in public areas.

The tricks are fun to watch but are also important skills for a service dog. Hughes keeps Cash as his personal pet to demonstrate to clients the skills that can be taught to dogs. While Cash is a German shepherd, Hughes trains all breeds. He told Patch, "I can take any dog that you take out of a shelter, and train it to be a service dog."
