'Tis The Season Of Giving: Charitable Efforts Kick Off At Area High Schools
Campbell Union High School District's series of events run Friday through the New Year.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA –Campbell Union High School District is hosting its annual events to celebrate the spirit of giving beginning Nov. 18 through Feb. 3, beginning with the Grant-a-Wish auction.
The district’s Season of Giving kicks off Friday with Leigh High School’s Grant-a-Wish Auction. In this event students bid on items such as lunch with teachers or extra credit assignments, and the proceeds are used to fund additional wish granting.
Then on Dec. 2 and Dec. 9 students at Del Mar, Branham and Westmont high schools will act to make the dreams of their fellow students and teachers a reality through the Winter Wishes program.

“Every student and teacher writes down what they want most for themselves or someone else, and it’s up to the school community to help make those wishes come true,” said Del Mar Activities Director Larry Lopez. “In the past, we’ve had computers given to people who didn’t have one and people banding together to help families going through tough financial times.”
CUHSD’s Season of Giving culminates on Jan. 14, 2017, when students from the district’s five comprehensive high schools gather together to prepare meals for the Bay Area chapter of Kids Against Hunger, which works to feed hungry children in the United States and the rest of the world.

The Season of Giving ends Feb. 3 when Prospect High holds the last Winter Wish event of the school year.
“These events really bring people together and can be life changing for some students,” said Superintendent Robert Bravo. “When we celebrate our ability to help others, we experience the joy that comes from giving, and we’re inspired to care for one another.”
The students and teachers of Del Mar, Branham, Leigh, Prospect, and Westmont High will see their greatest wishes fulfilled during the Winter Wish events.
During CUHSD Day of Service, the district community will gather to prepare meals for the Bay Area chapter of Kids Against Hunger.
