Make A GAP YEAR PART OF YOUR COLLEGE PLAN
A gap year is when a student takes time out before or during college to pursue a structured series of experiences before entering or returning to college. - Karl Haigler and Rae Nelson
On Tuesday, January 14th, from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Elizabeth Simms, an independent educational consultant, will talk about gap years at the Porter Memorial Library in Soquel.
Many parents, students, and colleges are realizing that students benefit from taking a break from their formal education, so they can travel, volunteer, work, develop skills, pursue interests, and take part in internships. A gap year can give students the chance to develop self knowledge and mature. It can also give them time to decompress and rekindle their love of learning.
Consider making a gap year part of your college plan. Together we will go over the pros and cons of a gap year, discuss gap year options and begin to explore how to develop a personalized gap year plan.
