Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Celebration and Read Across America

Carlsbad City Library will celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday on Friday, March 2 with a free storytime featuring special guest readers including members of the Carlsbad City Council. Kids and their families can enjoy a visit from the Cat in the Hat and a Seuss-themed cake at the celebration. The Seuss Celebration takes place in the library's Gowland Meeting Room, located at 1775 Dove Lane.

March 2 also marks the start of the National Education Association's Read Across America program, a national reading celebration that takes place each year on or near Dr. Seuss' birthday. Now in its thirteenth year, thousands across the country participate with the goal of motivating youth to read.

Read Across America storytimes will continue at Carlsbad City Library each Friday in March at 3:30 p.m.
