The Crossings Management Contract Extended
Kempler Sports will operate the course until at least January 2013.
Chris Hazeltine, director of Carlsbad Parks and Recreation, sat before the council to make the request that the current contract with Kempler Sports, the company which runs , be extended to January 2013. The current contract ends in August, and Hazeltine asked the council to put off requests for new bids until then, since the summer brings better weather, more rounds of golf, and an increase in special events such as weddings. August is the peak season in terms of revenue.
While parks and recreation believes Kempler Sports is doing a fine job, they would like to see what else the market may have to offer. “It’s in the city’s best interest to put out a Request for Proposal, to ensure we’re getting the best value possible”, said Hazeltine.
Mayor Matt Hall said that a letter from the San Diego County Tax payers Association had been submitted for the record. Hall noted that the association had given the city awards in the past, and he had been present to except them. The letter asked that the contract not be expended.
