• Carmel to trim 1,200 trees ahead of El Niño as some residents push back on removals (ksbw.com) — Carmel-by-the-Sea is preparing for a potentially harsh El Niño winter by working with PG&E to trim about 1,200 trees and remove dozens more near power lines, aiming to prevent outages and hazards. City officials say they're pushing to protect the town's treasured tree canopy, even as some residents object to removals and more crews and equipment appear around town.
