Among them is Nevada resident Heather Vinson. She said that although her wedding day will be special in and of itself, the date makes it all the more worthwhile.

“There’s just something about it that seems lucky and somewhat romantic,” Vinson said.

She and her fiancé, Jeremy Jones, will tie the knot along the rolling hills of Pleasanton at her family’s ranch. After waiting eight years to wed, Vinson said she looks forward to the unique and memorable day.

“There’s no excuse not to remember the anniversary,” she joked.

Cat Coakley, owner of , a Castro Valley waxing parlor and beauty boutique, said Heather lucked out in scheduling a makeup appointment for her and her bridal party that day due to her early planning four months in advance.

Waxcraft received nearly 40 calls and emails over the past year from clients planning to get married today.

“For some, it was their lucky number,” she said. “I think they just like the number and the idea behind it.”

Over at boutique in Castro Valley, manager Melody Klever said she helped eight brides-to-be find their dream dresses for the big day.

“For a Friday, it’s unusual [to have this many clients get married],” Klever said.

She said usually the weekends are popular for weddings due to the fact they are convenient for guests to attend. However, according to her brides, today was an exception that outweighed that factor.

Realizing the significance of the day, one of her brides decided three weeks ago to have her wedding on this day.

“It was one of the fastest-planned weddings I helped find a dress for,” Klever said.

Those hoping to snag a similar date will have to wait until next year’s 12-12-12. However, since it falls on a Wednesday, Klever said it is unlikely to attract as much hoopla as today.
