2-Alarm Fire At Lorenzo Theater

Firefighters fought the fire defensively.

SAN LORENZO, CA — Alameda County firefighters battled a 2-alarm fire at the Lorenzo Theater on Hesperian Boulevard in San Lorenzo. The fire is now under control.

No injuries have been reported.

The fire department fought the blaze defensively, meaning that no crews were inside because it was unsafe. Instead, they sprayed hoses from their trucks and ladders.

The fire was reported around 3:40 p.m.

The historic theater opened in 1947. An foundation had been trying to save the Art Deco structure and its flourscent painted murals that glowed under black lights.

This is the second fire at the Lorenzo Theater this year. There was a devastating fire back in June.
