9-11 coming up-we remember

9-11 is coming up. It’s been 23 years.

Some adults today were not born yet. And yet- those who lived it recall with distinct clarity the day that the U.S. held our breaths and watched as events unfolded. Many lost their lives. Many lost friends and family and many more were traumatized by the events.

I’m not showing photos of the event because it is still a trigger point for a flood of emotions for many even 23 years later.

But it’s important to remember.

There was so
Much horror.

But
There was also a nation standing together against an unknown threat (at the time).

We were afraid - and still we stood together, despite the fear- in resolute defiance. Signs went up everywhere as we recovered, as rescue efforts continued, as a nation rallied. In little barber shops. In restaurants. In grocery stores.

Remember the feeling with the words
“America - open for business.”

It’s not nothing. It meant so much more than the words themselves.

It was us
