Folks in San Lorenzo and Castro Valley have proven to be pretty lucky this past year.

Kavanaugh Liquors on Hesperian Boulevard in San Lorenzo was recently dubbed  after .

San Lorenzo resident Keith Barros said the former Mervyn's parking lot adjacent to Kavanaugh's has been packed with cars throughout the week.

"It looks like Mervyn's is open again," Barros said.

And just last week,  sold a winning California Mega Millions lottery ticket .

This week, a Castro Valley man was one number off from winning the Maga Millions lottery after buying a ticket at  on Redwood Road. He settled for $13,505.
