Cars Strike, Kill Pedestrian Walking On I-580 Freeway In Castro Valley: CHP
CHP is asking for the public's help in finding the driver of an SUV that didn't stop after striking a pedestrian.
CASTRO VALLEY, CA — The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help in finding the driver of an SUV involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash along the I-580 Freeway in Castro Valley.
Authorities say the pedestrian walked into the highway sometime before 9:21 p.m. for "reasons that are still under investigation."
Soon after, the pedestrian was struck by a big rig and an unknown white SUV. The pedestrian died at the scene from their injuries. Police have not yet publicly identified them.

The driver of the big rig, meanwhile, remained at the scene following the crash and cooperated with the investigation, according to the CHP. But the driver of the white SUV drove off, police said.
The CHP asks that anyone who may know the driver of the SUV, witnessed the crash or has any information that would help officers with the case contact the agency at 510-489-1500.
