Castro Valley Joins a New District in January. Ask for a Plan First.

In January, Castro Valley and Ashland move into California's 10th Congressional District. Most people here don't know that yet.

In January, Castro Valley and Ashland move into California's 10th Congressional District. Most people here don't know that yet. I didn't expect them to. Nobody mailed you a letter.

I'm Jeff Frese, and I'm the one on your ballot running against Mark DeSaulnier. I live in Moraga. I coach. I run a small business. My mom was a nurse and my dad was a teacher, and both my sisters teach.

Here's what I'd want to know if I lived on Redwood Road. Who's going to show up for this town? DeSaulnier has two district offices, one in Walnut Creek and one in Antioch. There's none in Alameda County. That's about 79,000 of his future constituents with no front door.

Then there's BART. The BART board voted 8 to 1 to close the Castro Valley station if voters don't pass a 14-year sales tax in November. Orinda is on that list too. I don't negotiate with a ransom note. Before they ask you for more, show me the cuts to overhead and management.

What I'd do in Washington is simple. No federal income tax on public school teachers, because I don't know a single teacher without a second job. Ban Wall Street and hedge funds from buying up single-family homes. Ban stock trading in Congress, the president included. Term limits. No budget, no pay.

And I'll hold myself to the same rule. Eight years and I go home. This isn't a career for me. I'm on a mission.

DeSaulnier has been in Congress twelve years and passed two laws. You deserve a representative who knows where Castro Valley is before he gets your vote, not after.

So tell me. What does Castro Valley need from Washington? Roads, fire, schools, BART, something nobody's asked about? I'm listening, and I'll answer.
