Castro Valley Kids' 'Litter Hurts' Poster Winners Announced

Four elementary school students took top prizes in Earth Day poster contest for 3rd & 4th graders. Their art to be displayed at the library.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Four Castro Valley third- and fourth-graders took top wins in the Earth Day “Litter Hurts” poster contest, from among 262 entries, in event sponsored by the Alameda County Clean Water Program.

The winning posters will be displayed May 10-31 at the Castro Valley Library, 3600 Norbridge Ave. “Litter Hurts! Help Keep Our Water Clean” was the theme.

“Litter is one of several ways the health of our local waterways, such as Castro Valley and San Lorenzo creeks, is threatened,” Clean Water rep Allison Rodacker said. “Helping kids understand the connection between their neighborhoods and local water and wildlife can help stop litter before it starts. Litter causes more problems than just unsightly blight.”
