Team Chili Patch Takes Third at Chili Cook-Off, SOSCV! Gets $100

Castro Valley Patch bloggers walk away winners with their chili verde after competing for the first time in the annual chili cook-off.

Castro Valley Patch's team known as "Chili Patch" took third place honors at this year's 21st Annual Castro Valley Chili Cook-Off.

It was the first time we entered our chili verde recipe in the competition.

Patch editor Analisa Harangozo teamed up with some of her site's bloggers to cook and serve up their dish.

The Patch booth was decked out with "green" products from Diaz' store, Restore & Rework. All items, found at Bay Area flea markets, estate and garage sales, swap meets and salvage yards, for resale.

Congratulations to the other winners as well!

Rowell Ranch Rodeo came in first place and was awarded $500. Second place went to Tutor Doctor along with $200. Chili Patch was given $100 for third. After a week of voting, Save Our Schools Castro Valley! (SOSCV!) to receive our winnings. Alameda County Firefighters took People's Choice and the Best Decorated Booth went to Charlie's Pig House.
