CVSan: 2027 Hazard Mitigation Plan Survey

Castro Valley Sanitary District and Oro Loma Sanitary District are in the process of drafting their 2027 Hazard Mitigation Plan.

Castro Valley Sanitary District and Oro Loma Sanitary District are in the process of drafting their 2027 Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). HMPs identify goals, objectives, and mitigation strategies for reducing the impact of hazards such as earthquakes, floods, wildfires, and severe storms. They are updated every five years to reflect evolving risks.

Our HMP outlines a long-term strategy to reduce risks to solid waste and wastewater services from disasters. It will also make us eligible for federal mitigation funds that strengthen our community’s disaster preparedness.

  • Identify and describe the hazards that affect the area
  • Evaluate existing capabilities to reduce risk from those hazards
  • Analyze how solid waste and wastewater infrastructure is vulnerable to each hazard
  • Develop a mitigation strategy to reduce the impact of each hazard
  • Implement the mitigation strategy across operations
