CVSan: Donates 4Rs Books to Castro Valley Library and Little Free Libraries in Castro Valley

In the spring of 2024, Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) applied for and received a mini-grant from the Altamont Settlement Agreement Educational Advisory Board (EAB) to purchase and donate zero-waste-themed books. This marks CVSan’s second grant-funded donation to the Castro Valley Library (Alameda County Library) and first donation to Little Free Libraries located within CVSan boundaries. The first occurred in the spring of 2014, when staff applied for and received grant funding from the EAB, resulting in the donation of over 100 books and movies to the Castro Valley Library in honor of CVSan’s Path to Zero Waste process. This second donation included over 100 books to the Castro Valley Library and over 30 books to Little Free Libraries in Castro Valley.

Through both donations, over 230 books and movies have been donated to inspire practicing the 4Rs – reduce, reuse, recycle, and rot – and to encourage environmental protection. All new books are now available for the community to enjoy.
