CVSan: Headquarters Receives Gold LEED Certification
CVSan is proud to announce that its new headquarters, located at 21195 Center Street, has earned LEED certification at the Gold level.
Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) is proud to announce that its new headquarters, located at 21195 Center Street, has earned certification at the Gold level under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). LEED certification demonstrates that a building prioritizes efficient use of energy, leading to lower long-term operational costs. To earn LEED Gold certification, CVSan's headquarters building was evaluated across multiple categories on a 110-point scale. CVSan had to earn points in the categories of water and energy efficiency; sustainable, recycled, and low-emission building materials; indoor environmental quality; and low impacts on the surrounding ecosystem.
Roland Williams, CVSan’s General Manager, stated, “Achieving LEED Gold Certification reflects CVSan’s ongoing mission of protecting public health and the environment. Every detail of the building, from the plants selected in the community garden to the actual position of the building's layout to maximize its solar potential, was a priority to make the most environmentally friendly building we could.”
Developed by the United States Green Building Council, LEED is the most widely recognized green building rating system in the world. LEED certification offers a framework for healthy, efficient, and cost-effective green buildings, providing environmental and social benefits. It serves as a globally recognized symbol of sustainability leadership, supported by a committed community of organizations and individuals driving market transformation.
