CVSan: High School Scholarship Winners

Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) is pleased to announce that Rylan Quach and Lauren Yee are the winners of the 2025/26 CVSan Environmental Leader Scholarship! These students from Castro Valley High School (CVHS) will each receive a $1,000 scholarship award, and were recognized at CVSan’s Board of Directors meeting on May 5, 2026.

The first scholarship recipient is Rylan Quach, who is the Founder and President of the CVHS Food Nutrition and Conservation Club and non-profit. Rylan led club meetings, organized collaborations, and teamed up with other nonprofits like ForestR, White Pony Express, CVSan, and Faith Lutheran Church to harvest thousands of pounds of fruit and distribute thousands of bags of food. Rylan plans to study Nutrition and Metabolic Biology on a pre-med track later this year at the University of California, Berkeley.

The second scholarship recipient is Lauren Yee, a former CVHS Smart Environment Club Secretary and current Club President. At the club, she led weekly informational meetings and garden workdays, presented educational slideshows about environmental issues/sustainability, completed over 100 volunteer hours, and assisted in organizing a sustainability fair involving 20 local environmental organizations.. Lauren plans to study Materials Science and Engineering later this year at the University of California, Davis.

This is the 13^th year that CVSan has offered its scholarships to high school seniors. CVSan proudly recognizes these students for their outstanding efforts to promote environmental protection within their schools and the community. For more information, visit cvsan.org/StudentScholarship.
