CVSan Holds 5th Annual Recognition Event for 4R Businesses
Over one hundred 4R Star businesses in Castro Valley were invited to the CVSan Recognition Event on Friday, October 26th.

Over one hundred 4R Star businesses in Castro Valley were invited to the 4R Star Business Employee Recognition Event on Friday, October 26th at Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan). “4R Star Businesses” have recycling and composting rates well over 60 percent in large part due to the efforts of their employees who implement programs and ideas to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rot (organics) at their workplace.
Awards were given out to the following employees:
· The Recycling Champion Award: Christine D’Oliveira of Aran’s Art Studio.

· The Team Award: Arianna Pagan and Kevin Frazier of Redwood Surgery Center.
· The Kitchen Champion Award: Ruben Mejia of Shari’s Café and Pies.

· The Leadership Award: Marci Caesare of Castro Valley Companion Animal Hospital.
Participants discussed how CVSan’s 4R Star program has helped them meet waste reduction goals and save money. The following businesses participated in this year’s event: Yarnal Jewelers, Pete’s Hardware, Redwood Surgery Center, Aran’s Art Studio, Shari’s Café and Pies, His Growing Grove, Castro Valley Masonic Center, Castro Valley/Eden Area Chamber, Castro Valley Companion Animal Hospital, Al’s Market, Rudy’s Donut House, Los Molcajetes, Knudsen’s Ice Creamery and Boulevard Burger. CVSan Board Member Ralph Johnson and staff Roland Williams, Naomi Lue, Cole Caceres and Purvi Solanki were in attendance.
