CVSan: Naomi Lue Receives National Award

The National Recycling Coalition (NRC) recently awarded CVSan’s Zero Waste Supervisor Naomi Lue the Outstanding Minority Leadership Award. This is awarded to a company or individual showing leadership, innovation, and success as a model in recycling and diversion.

NRC’s Chair, Lisa Skumatz, presented Ms. Lue with the award at National Recycling Congress and stated, “Naomi Lue oversees and directs Castro Valley Sanitary District’s award-winning public zero waste programs and services for residents, businesses, and schools. Through her leadership, she has been instrumental in transforming the Zero Waste Department, developing and spreading the word on innovative programs, creating a culture of zero waste, curbside and event-based textile collection, and best practices for franchise agreements. Naomi is a magnet, drawing others in and co-creating success with her colleagues.”

Upon winning the award Ms. Lue noted, “I am honored to be selected by the National Recycling Coalition to receive the Outstanding Minority Leadership Award. My goal is to continue pioneering leading-edge work and this award inspires me to do more.”

The NRC is a non-profit organization consisting of 23-affiliated recycling organizations and has more than 6,000 members. The focus of the NRC is to promote and enhance recycling in the United States.
