The women and children who come to Shepherd’s Gate are seeking to start a new life. They are able shop for free at the thrift store for clothes for job interviews and school as well as items to furnish a new place to live after graduation. Proceeds from the thrift store directly support the women and children at Shepherd’s Gate by providing care, safety, education and encouragement as they rebuild their lives. The City of Union City invites the community to gather in remembrance and reflection at the 25th Anniversary Commemoration of Flight 93 on Friday, September 11, at 10:00 AM at Sugar Mill Landing Park in Union City.
This special ceremony honors the 40 passengers and crew members aboard United Airlines Flight 93 whose courage and selflessness on September 11, 2001, became a lasting symbol of sacrifice, unity, and resilience. The memorial provides an opportunity for the community to come together, reflect on the lives lost, and recognize the enduring impact of their actions.This event is free and open to the public.

WHO:&nbsp;Entrepreneur/Award-winning author, Cal alumna Graciela Tiscareño-Sato, the first Latina aviator in the U.S. Air Force to be awarded an Air Medal for combat air operations (over Iraq). Known as Captain Mama / Capitán Mamá in national airshow and school assembly circles, Graciela is a bilingual living-history STEM engagement performer who shares her unusual daughter-of-Mexican-immigrants-to-military-aviator journey through UC Berkeley and resources for HOW students can launch their own aviation careers too.
